House Dems Ignored Jeffries’ Instructions To Keep Quiet At SOTU🚨

SOTU Showdown: Democrats Defy Jeffries, Confront Trump’s Provocations

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) struggled significantly to control his caucus during a contentious State of the Union address, marked by Donald Trump’s provocative remarks. Despite Jeffries’ instructions for House Democrats to practice “silent defiance” or skip the event, his directives were swiftly abandoned once Trump began speaking, highlighting a challenge to the Minority Leader’s authority.

The evening’s discord began almost immediately. Rep. Al Green (D-TX) was ejected from the well of the chamber for displaying a sign, “Black people aren’t apes!” This was in response to a widely condemned video Trump shared on Truth Social, depicting the Obamas as monkeys (though not created by Trump). This mirrored a prior confrontation involving Green, where Trump again allowed the disruption to become a spectacle.

As Trump’s nearly two-hour address progressed, other Democrats provided further political ammunition. Representatives Lauren Underwood (D-IL), Bill Foster (D-IL), and Madeline Dean (D-PA) notably walked out midway through in protest, as reported by the Washington Examiner. The most intense reactions occurred when Trump challenged the chamber to stand if they prioritized American citizens over “illegal aliens.” When Democrats remained seated, Trump publicly shamed them: “You should be ashamed of yourself for not standing up.” This prompted a fierce retort from Representatives Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who accused the president of responsibility for the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, two U.S. citizens shot by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis earlier that year, intensifying the already heated atmosphere.
