Ryan Wesley Routh, 59, has been sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 84 months for his role in the September 15, 2024, attempted assassination of then-former President and GOP nominee Donald Trump. A federal jury in September 2025 convicted Routh on five felony counts following an incident at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Prosecutors detailed how Routh, concealed with a rifle, aimed at Trump and a Secret Service agent before being intercepted. U.S. District Judge Aileen M. This led to Trump having to use a smaller staircase for boarding.
