The agency confirmed it is actively monitoring developments in the Middle East and working closely with federal and local law enforcement partners. It emphasized that its protective model is adaptable, designed to meet current security needs and safeguard protectees, key sites, and surrounding communities.
This heightened alert comes amid a significant expansion of hostilities overseas, which involved U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian military and leadership targets. Reports have indicated the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has launched its own missile and drone strikes against U.S. and Israeli interests within the region. Although no specific domestic threats directly linked to these operations have been identified, federal agencies routinely adjust security protocols during periods of considerable geopolitical instability, particularly when current or former presidents are involved in major military decisions.
